Reason 44: Allen Iverson’s return to the NBA?
It’s been one heck of a roller coaster ride for former NBA MVP Allen Iverson. Since the 2008-09 season, A.I. has suited up for four different NBA teams (Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers), while also making an attempt in basketball overseas with the Turkish squad Besiktas. The 36-year old veteran doesn’t have the same first step he possessed back in the late 90s and early 2000s, but Iverson still believes he can play in the NBA and is hoping to return to the League once, and if, the season begins. Opportunities might be slim for the 6’0″ guard out of Georgetown, however, as the veteran dealt with a nagging leg injury overseas in his recent stint of basketball. Nonetheless, A.I. is itching to add that NBA Finals ring to a resume that many believe will land him in the Hall of Fame one day. He seems determined to get back on the court, as he sought advice from League trainers in preparation for a comeback. He won’t be the same old Iverson we’ve all come to admire over the years, but his determination to prove us all wrong and win a NBA championship could land him a spot on a team’s roster come the 2011-12 season.
